FAQs
Stump grinding questions answered
Why should I remove a tree stump?
Leftover stumps are a trip hazard, can attract pests and disease, and take up space you could use for replanting, turfing or paving. They can also produce unwanted regrowth shoots for years. Stump grinding is the quickest and cleanest way to deal with them permanently.
How deep does stump grinding go?
Typically 150–300mm below ground level, which is sufficient for replanting or laying turf over the top. If you’re planning to pave or lay decking, let us know and we can grind deeper to give you a clean, level base.
What's left after stump grinding?
A mixture of wood chips and soil fills the hole where the stump was. This can be left to settle and used as mulch, or we can remove it from site if you prefer. The area will be level and ready for whatever you have planned.
Can you grind stumps in a small or enclosed garden?
es — our stump grinding equipment is compact enough to access most residential gardens, including those with narrow side gates or tight spaces. We’ll confirm access requirements when we visit for a quote.
How soon after tree removal can the stump be ground?
Immediately — we can carry out stump grinding on the same day as a tree removal or return at a later date. Fresh stumps are actually easier to grind than older, dried-out ones, so sooner is generally better.
